چکیده

To understand the evolution of Ulva chloroplast genomes at intraspecific and interspecific levels, in this study, three complete compressa Linnaeus were sequenced compared with available cpDNA data. Our comparative analyses unveiled many noticeable findings. First, genome size variations cpDNAs levels mainly caused by differences gain or loss group I/II introns, integration foreign DNA fragments, content non-coding intergenic spacer regions. Second, U. shared same 100 conserved genes as other cpDNA, whereas flexuosa appears to be only species minD gene retained its cpDNA. Third, five types I most which carry a LAGLIDADG GIY-YIG homing endonuclease, II usually encoding reverse transcriptase/maturase, detected 26 insertion sites 14 host 23 genomes, intron insertion-sites have been found for first time Chlorophyta. Fourth, one degenerate previously ignored has infA all species, but not closest neighbor, Pseudoneochloris marina , chlorophycean taxa, indicating that it should result an independent invasion event occurred common ancestor species. Finally, seven represented novel order was different from cpDNAs. The structure is conserved, remarkably plastic, due multiple rearrangement events.

Complete chloroplast genome of green tide algae Ulva flexuosa (Ulvophyceae, Chlorophyta) with comparative analysis

Ulva flexuosa, one kind of green tide algae, has outbroken in the Yellow Sea of China during the past ten years. In the present study, we sequenced the chloroplast genome of U. flexuosa followed by annotation and comparative analysis. It indicated that the chloroplast genomes had high conservation among Ulva spp., and high rearrangement outside them. Though U. flexuosa was closer to U. linza th...

The Complete Chloroplast and Mitochondrial Genomes of the Green Macroalga Ulva sp. UNA00071828 (Ulvophyceae, Chlorophyta)

Sequencing mitochondrial and chloroplast genomes has become an integral part in understanding the genomic machinery and the phylogenetic histories of green algae. Previously, only three chloroplast genomes (Oltmannsiellopsis viridis, Pseudendoclonium akinetum, and Bryopsis hypnoides) and two mitochondrial genomes (O. viridis and P. akinetum) from the class Ulvophyceae have been published. Here,...

Sterols from the Green Alga Ulva australis

Three new sterols, (24R)-5,28-stigmastadiene-3β,24-diol-7-one (1), (24S)-5,28-stigmastadiene-3β,24-diol-7-one (2), and 24R and 24S-vinylcholesta-3β,5α,6β,24-tetraol (3), together with three known sterols (4-6) were isolated from the green alga Ulva australis. The structures of the new compounds (1-3) were elucidated through 1D and 2D nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy as well as mass spect...

Autoradiographic evidence for the rapid disintegration of one chloroplast in the zygote of the green alga Ulva mutabilis.

This paper gives evidence suggesting that one of the two chloroplasts contributed to the zygote of Ulva mutabilis is rapidly destroyed. Chloroplasts in an advanced stage of disintegration can be seen only 4 min after copulation. Radioactive labelling of gametes prior to copulation shows that the disintegrating chloroplast is supplied through the + (plus) gamete, while the chloroplast from the —...

In situ growth potential of the subtidal part of green tide forming Ulva spp. stocks.

Ulva spp., the algae most responsible for green tides in Brittany (France), are found on the foreshore and in the most beachward wave area (MBWA) of many bays during green tide phenomena. These algae have recently been seen drifting at greater depths (reaching - 20 m). In view of the significant quantities of algae found at these depths, and the less favorable conditions for algal growth than i...
